Endothelial colony forming cells for bone regeneration in mice

Mentor: Jiliang Li

This project explored the role of bone marrow derived endothelial progenitor cells (EPCs) in bone healing. The importance of this study is to discover a mechanism for accelerating bone fracture healing in individuals with compromising conditions such as osteoporosis. Two disciplines came together to carry out the experiment, including students from biology and biomedical engineering backgrounds. With the combined disciplines, results revealed the possible role of EPCs in fracture healing.
