Reflecting on Internship Experience Using Gibbs Reflective Cycle
In this showcase, I will apply a form of reflection - Gibbs reflective cycle - to my experience as a Career Services Intern with the Office of Student Employment. I am concentrating on three main facets of my internship experience: 1) interacting with students during drop-ins and appointments over Zoom 2) creating a “sense of belonging” among students in a Canvas page 3) preparing to assist students for transitioning to a new job board, Handshake. Gibbs reflective cycle involves five steps meant to re-examine previous situations and determine successes and challenges attached to them. Additionally, this model takes the extra step to define what one could do differently next time, if in the same or a similar situation.
