Intern

I would say my overall internship experience has been far from basic, and that's better than I could hope for. When I started the Sophomore Internship Program (SIP) I really wanted to gain not only experience, but a deeper understanding into the site I would intern at. I was lucky enough even after COVID derailed my initial site placement, to intern at a place called Central Indiana Teen Challenge. At Teen Challenge I have been able to gain an entire new perspective on management, unique healthcare treatments, fundamentals of most non-profits, and so much more. Through my internship here I have been able to connect my learning through courses this semester directly back to my role and duty as an intern at Teen Challenge. I worked directly underneath executive director Missy, alongside other staff. I did things from promoting fundraises, creating, managing and doing projects, organizing small thing's like their fridge to students files. I created a volunteer program they'll use indefinitely that allows for easier volunteer access and tracking. I helped create community outreach that created a starting foundation for potential bridges between the local high school and Teen Challenge itself. I believe I was an asset to this organization as I was a current college student who has great background knowledge on social media, technology, and a fresh perspective on outside the box brain storming.
