In Communication Studies, ePortfolios are used to help students archive and reflect on their learning related to specific “Learning Outcomes in Communication” from Gateway to Capstone. In these Capstone ePortfolios, graduating seniors "showcase" what they know and can do as Communication Studies majors and emerging communication professionals.
As part of their capstone experience, students complete an applied communication project in which they apply their knowledge and competencies to a real-world challenge. In Spring 2021, students in Dr. Elizabeth Goering’s section of COMM-G480: Capstone in Communication Studies partnered with two community organizations, Catholic Charities Refugee and Immigrant Services and Racial Equity Community Network (RECN) in Fishers, on projects designed to build stronger communities that promote and value diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging. The students’ applied communication projects are included in the Showcases featured in the capstone ePortfolios.
