Exploring Integrated Care
This project consists of understanding the treatment patterns in an Integrated health primary care clinic for rising mental health concerns. When patients see their regular family practitioner, they often report having symptoms of anxiety or depression. At the IU Methodist Family Medicine clinic, patients are referred to counselors at the clinic when they have mental health symptoms and a willingness to attend counseling. Through referral forms and patient files, identified improvements in patients’ mental health including the intervention of medication and counseling. Research has consisted of reviewing patients’ referral forms, compiling objective measures of depression and anxiety, and compiling a literature review of Integrated Care and the successful outcomes of this healthcare model.
