Enhancement of Retinal Organoid Differentiation from Human Pluripotent Stem Cells to Produce Consistent In Vitro Models for High-Throughput Screening Techniques
This project focuses on establishing a standardized protocol for the growth of retinal organoids from human pluripotent stem cells, which are created by taking differentiated cells and reversing their development so they function as stem cells. Retinal organoids are an in vitro model of the human retina, grown fully in culture in the laboratory. By creating an improved, standardized differentiation protocol, the goal is to be able to grow more uniform, consistent, healthy organoids.
