School Based Community Health Worker Program
The Project "School-Based Community Health Worker Program" aims to prevent youth involvement with the juvenile legal system by engaging families and students who are chronically absent throughout the school year. The project leaders from MCCOY and IUPUI’s Office of Community Engagement work with the school’s School Community Council to build capacity and skills for community-level prevention strategies. This includes training, strategic planning, and community assessment and engagement. This broader effort will provide a sustainable prevention network for the school community, supplementing the school-based CHW program and implementing higher-level prevention strategies to keep families engaged in the education process.
