The IU School of Medicine Recommendation Report examines the challenges students face with academic advising during their undergraduate experience. Our team started the project by researching best practices in advising trends and successful advising strategies. The research included searching scholarly databases first, then expanded to internet-based searches to look at advising programs at other universities. After one hundred hours of digital research, the team assessed IUPUI student experiences through a local study and emailed several academic advisors to get their feedback. Our report analyzes the results and suggests practical options to support effective advising practices at IUPUI.
