On December 6, 2024, students, faculty, and mentors from across Indiana University’s nine campuses gathered at the IU Indianapolis University Tower for the annual Indiana University Undergraduate Research Conference (IUURC).

What is IUURC?
Since its inception in 1994, the IUURC has served as a platform to spotlight undergraduate research in various academic fields. The conference allows students to present their work in a professional setting. The event also promotes professional development and fosters connections between students and mentors.

Highlights of the Day
The 2024 IUURC featured diverse presentation formats, including poster sessions, oral presentations, and ePortfolio displays. Students who couldn’t attend in person participated via Zoom or submitted narrated PowerPoint presentations.

Outstanding Presentations
Outstanding presentations included:
- Yashawini Battina (IU Indianapolis): Exploring the role of β-cell autophagy in Type 1 Diabetes Pathogenesis.
- Bryce Guidry (IU Southeast): Developing a predictive AQI program for improved public health.
- Nora LaRoche (IU Indianapolis): Investigating anterior insular neural activity in compulsive-like alcohol drinking.
Honorable mentions highlighted exceptional work in various fields, such as microbiology, artificial intelligence, and public health.
